Testing new Elinchrom Skyport receivers.

A box arrived for me today with some new Elinchrom Skyport receivers to add to the one that I already had.  I needed to do a quick test, and conveniently a couple of the neighbors were around. So before they could run out the door, I got a couple of quick test shots in using three point lighting.

You might wonder why the glasses on the boy’s grandfather are glare-free.  There is no magic to this.  When you use an on-flash camera, often even if you bounce it off the wall or ceiling, you’re almost certain to get a reflection off of the glasses.  But when you’re using off-camera lighting, all you have to do is set the lights at oblique angles so any glare goes off to the sides and not to the camera lens.

Oh, and yes, the radio receivers worked flawlessly.  I have a couple of minor design gripes about the Skyports (nothing affecting their function) but overall I give them two thumbs up and a heck of a bargain compared to Pocket Wizards.
